2020 Fall Business Meeting

Hello WestPac members!

Since we will not be meeting in-person for this year’s annual chapter meeting, we will be holding our fall business meeting on Saturday, September 26, at 3 PM (Pacific Time). It will be hosted online via Zoom (log-in details will be sent to everyone closer to the date). The meeting will be immediately followed by a social / happy hour to give us a chance to connect and catch up. (We chose to meet on a Saturday so members in all WestPac time zones could enjoy and participate!)

In addition to officer and committee reports, we will also be announcing details at the fall business meeting about two roundtable discussions that will take place on October 6 and November 12 to provide our members with additional educational and social opportunities in the coming months.

So, please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 26, at 3 PM (Pacific Time) for the fall business meeting. We look forward to “seeing” you then!

On behalf of the WestPac Board, Kerry

PS. I’d like to give a big thank you to special committee co-chairs David McClure and Mari Cheney, and committee members Kathy Carlson, Karen Seldon, Bonnie Geldmacher, and Brian Huffman, for planning and making this all happen. I’m so grateful for their work.

WestPac Annual Meeting in Reno postponed to 2021

Due to the coronavirus, we have postponed our 2020 face-to-face annual meeting until 2021. While none of us wanted to make this choice, it was the most fiscally responsible decision the Board could make at this time. We are considering the possibility of offering a streamlined online conference of some kind in Fall 2020.

WestPac Volunteer Survey

Take the WestPac Committee Service Survey!

We’re trying to create an accurate list of committee members, as well as gauge interest in starting, stopping, or changing committee roles. Take the survey between now and Dec. 2, or contact a WestPac officer for more information. It will take less than 3 minutes, we promise.

Spokane Logistics

Hello WestPac!

It’s about 48 hours until we kick off our annual meeting in Spokane.

If you’re coming in by plane, you have a couple of options for traveling the 8 miles in from the airport:

  • The Davenport Hotel provides transportation for $25, but you must contact them in advance to arrange pick-up. Call 509.789.7385.

  • Uber or Lyft might cost about $18 to $25 depending on traffic.

  • Spokane Public Transit runs a bus (I think it’s the #60) every half hour and it takes about 30 minutes to get to the hotel area. Cost is $2.

  • There are traditional taxis, too, but I haven’t researched pricing.

Additional information about ground transportation is available at https://spokaneairports.net/ground-transportation/

Once you’re at the Davenport, the amenity fee (which is waived for WestPac participants), includes bike rentals and free transportation in the downtown area.

For transportation to the opening reception at Gonzaga University, you can walk the lovely Centennial Trail to get to campus (about 30 minutes), or an Uber or Lyft should be under $10. Use the address 721 N. Cincinnati Street, Spokane, WA 99220-3528 to get to the Chastek Library to check in for the meeting and take a tour before a short walk over to the Museum for the reception.

So looking forward to seeing everyone—please let me know if you have any questions!

Kerry

UPDATE

From Sharalyn Williams at Gonzaga:

I will have temporary parking passes available at the desk for those needing them. This will allow them to park on campus in any of the green lots for up to a week if they would like.

For all of the vehicles needing these, I will just need:

Vehicle State & License Plate Number
Make
Model
Color of vehicle
Phone number
